I have really enjoyed reading up on the latest on all of the visitors to our site to date. I hope all who visit here are sharing something before leaving us. We could really use more photos. I would love some good pictures of the school and misc. shots from 65-72. I would also like to see everyone in the reunion committee sign in. I think the info will prove to be valuable in years to come too. I personally will not be able to make the reunion, so this is my best chance in touching base with those I haven't seen for 30 years. I hope it can be the same for others like me.
I trust this site has been as much fun for you as it has been to me, and will add something to the reunion spirit.

Other Comments: Boy! Did I miss a GREAT time. My sister, Susan (Wear) Callahan, filled me in to the max as to what went on. I am sorry if I dissappointed anyone by not showing up. I really, really wanted to have my smiling face grace the proceedings but alas and alack, it was not to be. I solemly promise to make the next one (in ten years?) since hopefully I will be retired from the workforce by then and living in either Colorado or Montana. The photos look really GREAT! I did not see any of my "older" classmates (eg) Anita McFall, Mary Ellen Lewis, Sherryl Harrel etc. I did see that Howdy is going bald and Julie Warthen is eating too many frejoles. Ah...the joys of aging!!! I am not trying to be mean, just a little silly. Please don't let me miss the next one 'cuz this one looked like way too much fun. Until then...Adios!

Subject: THE VIDEO IS OUT!
Date: Wed, 01 Aug 2001 23:05:13

Hello everyone,
I hope that your summer has been a good one and that you were able to get done what you needed to over the past couple months. I haven't, and my deadlines seem to keep moving to the next page in the calendar....

Ahh, the reunion...the gathering...Leah and I frequently find ourselves talking about different folks we saw there, and comment on what a grand time it was. It was really neat seeing the pics that Sir Dan and Lady Sally Strohl took and sent to the website. If you haven't seen them yet, check them out on the website. Hopefully, more folks who had cameras there will forward some pics to Paul, and he will put them on as well.(http://lewispalmerreunion.tripod.com)

Well, I heard from Jim Sawatzki, the roving cameraman from Palmer Divide Productions, at the country club. He has put together a 60 minute piece that captures much of what went on at the club with socializing, the dinner, and some dancing, all interspersed with interviews of "willing or arm-twisted" participants. It is definately a "collector's item" and you may purchase one from him directly. His address is: PO Box 42 Palmer Lake, CO 80133, and toll free number is 1.888.635.6663. His email is pdpmark@hotmail.com. He is asking $19.99 plus shipping each, and will also send you a brochure of some of his other productions about Palmer Lake, Monument, Cripple Creek, etc.

In closing, thanks to all of you who helped make this reunion a success, and I hope we all keep in touch.
Warm regards
Howard Cloud

Subject: Attire
Date: Mon, 18 Jun 2001 17:24:41

Hello,
A few people have been asking me about the attire for the upcoming festivities, and I have neglected to "tell" people what to wear. Richard Warthen has emailed me the following...

"I forgot to ask if the dinner was to be formal dress. I may have to patch the moth holes in my tux if so. Maybe you can inform the participants that the picnic will be clothing optional. Dirty Woman Park has been known to host events leaning toward the "natural" end of the dress spectrum...."

The dinner is definately not a formal event. It is a country club, so I am suggesting business/country club casual would be dandy. The picnic, of course, is a picnic, so wear what you want. (Richard will not need a name tag at the picnic, he will be the big fella cruising around naked....)

Any questions, please email. See you soon!
Howard

Hello,
I want to get out one last quick email to all of you and thank those of you who have sent in your money and tee shirt sizes. We are about 90 strong so far, but I know there are others out there who have indicated interest in attending. Please confirm with me by the 17th (at the latest!)if you want to attend the dinner at WCC (or let me know if "the check is in the mail"). We need a firm number by then in order to let WCC know how many will be attending the dinner.

If you choose not to attend the dinner, but want to come by the club to socialize with all us old saggy Rangers after the dinner, PLEASE DO. We plan on having a DJ with all the "golden oldies" of our era, and will be visiting and rocking on until way past our bedtimes...(10:00 pm??)

This is going to be a memorable time for all of us. Many have commented to me that they are anxious to rekindle the old friendships of long ago with you. I say, let the party begin...and hope to see you there.

Hey everyone from Howard,
Date: Wed, 16 May 2001 13:53:01
I wanted to get another list of motels in the I-25/Academy Blvd. area(exit 150), as the Falcon Inn may get filled up. Also, the Falcon Inn has a "new" manager and he isn't too keen on keeping to the $59 agreed price of a "former" manager (press him for it, as I have been bugging him...best practices and "Ranger honor" command it). But anyway, here is a list, given to me by Gary Reese to send to you all. Not sure of the rates, but I'm sure they're competetive....

Comfort Inn.....1-800-228-5150
Sleep Inn...........719-260-6969
Red Roof Inn....719-598-6700
Days Inn...........719-266-1317
Drury Inn..........719-598-2500
Radisson Inn....719-598-5770
Super 8 Motel...719-528-7100

Take care and see you in five weeks!

Other Comments: Having lived most of our lives now, it will be great to see everyone again...and tell lots of stories. Wonder if any of our memories bear any resemblance to what really happened? For instance, I've always thought that when some form of hell had been raised, Breese would round up about six of us and he would know that at least one of us was the "perp"?
Paul, great job on the site...should we be able to see each other's email addresses, etc? See you all soon, eh?

Reply From Paul:
Hi Scott, I have not been putting Email address on line but have kept them and also sent them all to Howard Cloud. Did You Want to Contact Someone on the Message list?

Hello again,
I wanted to get an another message off to everyone to remind you about the deal the Falcon Inn on Woodmoor Drive (within stumbling distance of the country club) is giving us for the reunion. $59 per night. Be sure and tell them you are attending the reunion, and that the promised rate is $59.

Also, some of you have commented on the vagueness of my last email as far as timelines, price of tee shirt, etc., and I hope to clear some of that up now. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to ask. The deadline for your dinner reservations and tee shirt order is JUNE 2. This gives us three weeks to get the tee shirts ordered and the quesionnaire booklets put together so we can hand them out after dinner at the country club. JUNE 2, so please take the time to write out a check and send you tee shirt sizes. The package deal for the whole weekend is $50 per person. If you can only make the dinner, it's $45 with tee shirt, if you can only make the picnic, the price is $15 (including the $10 tee shirt). Kids under 12 at the picnic are free unless you want to get them a tee shirt, then it's $10 each. Send the following form at the bottom back to Howard Cloud (6561 Cliffbrook Drive, Dallas, TX 75240) with your check or money order made out to him.

Other information worth repeating:
Check out the reunion website, by Paul Meydrech (72) You can leave a message there for old classmates and even leave photographs of yourself. If you didn't get a questionnaire, you can find one there and submit it. Some folks have requested copies of the subsequent booklet which will have the questionnaires, and you will be able to get one for the printing cost.

Thanks to you who have paid already. The list is growing daily!

YOU GREW UP IN A SMALL TOWN IF:
1) You can name everyone you graduated with
2) You know what 4-H is
3) You ever went to parties at a pasture, barn, or in the middle of a dirt road.
4) You used to lap "main"
5) You said the "F" word and your parents knew within the hour
6) You scheduled parties around the schedule of different police officers, since you know which ones would bust you and which ones wouldn't.
7) You could never buy cigarettes because all the store clerks knew how old you were (and if you were old enough they'd tell your parents anyhow)
8) When you did find somebody old enough and brave enough to buy cigarettes, you still had to go out into the country and drive on back roads to smoke them.
9) It was cool to date somebody from the neighboring town
10) The whole school went to the same party after graduation
11) You don't give directions by street names or directions by references.. Turn by Nelson's house, go to 2 blocks east to Anderson's, and it's four houses left of the track field)
12)You can't help but date a friend's ex-boyfriend/girlfriend
13)It is normal to see an old man riding through town on a riding lawn mower.
14) Your car stays filthy because of the dirt roads and you will never own a dark vehicle for this reason
15) The town next to you is considered "trashy" or "snooty", but is actually just like your town.
16) You refer anyone with a house newer then 1980 as the "rich people"
17) The people in the "big city" dress funny then you pick up the trend 2 years later.
18) Anyone you want can be found at the local gas station or the town pub
19) you see at least one friend a week driving a tractor through town or one of your friends drives a grain truck to school occasionally
20) The gym teacher suggest you haul hay for the summer to get stronger
21) Directions are given using THE stop sign as a reference
22) You decide to walk somewhere for exercise and 5 people pull over and ask you if you want a ride somewhere
23) Your teachers call you by your older sibling's names
24) Your teachers remember when they taught your parents
25) You can charge at all the local stores or write checks without any ID..
26) The closest McDonalds is 45 miles away (or more)
27) The closest mall is over an hour away
28) You laugh your butt off reading this because you know it is all true and you forward it to everyone who lives in your town because you know them All!!!

Hello,
I wanted to get an email off to update everyone on the latest reunion information. Events are shaping up and it seems like a lot of people are excited about finally getting together again.

On June 23, we have dinner reservations at Woodmoor Country Club. We will begin with a "social" hour at 5:00 pm and dinner and activities to follow. Our buffet will include a champagne toast, appetizer baked brie in puff pastry, roast sirloin with forestier sauce, broiled salmon, and chicken picatta.

June 24 will be a picnic at Dirty Women Park (am I glad I didn't name that park!) in Monument beginning at 11:00 am. There is a pavillion, ball field, and playground all reserved for us, thanks to Gary Reese. Bring activity stuff like frisbees, kids, dogs, softball glove, etc. The Picnic Committee will provide the hotdogs, burgers & buns, and potato salad. Picnic participants are asked to bring your own beverages and "favorite picnic item." Don't get too creative with that one! We're thinking more like chips, pickles, fruit, and stuff like that.

Other information:
If you haven't seen the reunion website created by Paul Meydrech ('72), check it out at http://lewispalmerreunion.tripod.com. It's really cool. You can leave a message there for old classmates and even leave photographs of yourself. If you didn't get a questionnaire, you can find one there and submit it. Some folks have requested copies of the subsequent booklet which will have the questionnaires, and you will be able to get one for the printing cost.

Committee needs: We need folks to volunteer for the Picnic Committee (Gary Reese, Karen Albro Moore, Sheri Havens Smith already on it), Printing Committee (for name tags and subsequent booklet). Let me know if you want to help out.

The package deal for the whole weekend, plus your very own tee shirt, is $50 per person. If you can only make the picnic, the price is $15 (including tee shirt). Kids under 12 at the picnic are free unless you want to get them a tee shirt. We are asking for the money up front, this time, so we can get the tee shirts in the right sizes and to be able to pay the deposit at Woodmoor for the dinner. Please pay in advance, otherwise you won't be able to get a tee shirt. Send the following form back to Howard Cloud (6561 Cliffbrook Drive, Dallas, TX 75240) with your check or money order.

I guess that's it for now. Take special care of yourselves until June, looking forward to seeing all of you.

Most Memorable event since High School: Reuniting with my Vietnam Marine buddies

Other Comments: There is not enough room for the kids names and ages (when you have more than three!!!)
There is not enough room for Most Memorable event(s) Since High School...there are way too many. I mean, Marine bootcamp, snooping and pooping in a tank in Vietnam, the birth of my kids, turning 30, then 40 and (oh God!) 50!!! The loss of a parent, the birth of TWO grandsons...need I say more???
I sure would like to make it out to the reunion this summer. Although I am not an LPHS graduate, I guess Howdy Cloud decided that I get to attend anyway. Heck! The classes were so darn small, I guess that we need all the bodies that we can find!!! In the past few years, I have had the pleasure of visiting with Sue Nevins, Scotty Stabens and Linda Thompson while I have been back to the Pikes Peak region. I also have been in contact over the Internet with Anita McFall, Mary Ellen Lewis and of course, my wonderful "little" sister, Susan (Wear) Callahan. I currently live in New Hope, Pennsylvania (it's near Philadelphia)...and would welcome you if you are ever in the area. Again, I hope to be able to visit in person this summer. It should be fun.

Also I am looking for fun things to do during the Sat evening dinner. If anyone has any ideas let me know.Lorie McFall Thomas contacted me about a skit, all ideas are welcome. All for now.
